Back Pain Dos & Don’ts

If low back pain persists for more than two days, call your chiropractor or primary care physician. In the meantime, however, there are things you can do to relieve the pain.
* Every 2 hours, apply ice for 15-20 minutes.
* Don't use heat.
* Lie on your back with knees and hips bent at a 90 degree angle.
* Use a pillow or rolled up towel behind your lower back when sitting.
* Avoid twisting, bending or lifting.
* Don't stay in bed for more than 2 days.

To prevent back pain:
* Wear low-heeled, comfortable shoes.
* Make sure your desk or workspace is at a comfortable height.
* Use a chair with good lower back support and use a footstool.
* Use a rolled up towel or pillow behind your lower back if you must drive a long distance.
* Try sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your side with your knees bent and a pillow between your knees.

Low Back Pain

When To Seek Help For Low Back Pain
When pain is severe, problems with your back can't be ignored. "Stop pain" immediately goes to number one on your list. Falls, car accidents, sports strains, heavy lifting, or repetitive work may cause sudden damage, or damage may occur slowly over time. However, most problems are more easily treated within the first month symptoms are noticed.
While some patients seek chiropractic care only when pain is unbearable, this "crisis" approach often costs more in the long run - in time, stress, and dollars. Long- standing problems that have been neglected for years can't be cured with a single adjustment, any more than a single pill in a prescription can cure an illness.

Chiropractic care for low back pain has been proven to work. The sooner you seek professional care, the sooner you'll find relief from your pain. Don't continue to suffer.

We hope you will be proactive with your health and do the things necessary to help your body stay healthy and last longer. After all, you only have one body. If you wear it out, where are you going to live? Our goal is to give you the information and treatment necessary to help you live a longer, healthier, more enjoyable life.
